River & Trail Outfitters - Harpers Ferry Location

As others have said, when the water levels are low, it’s not that fun of a trip. Our guide, Caleb, did the best he could to make sure we had a good time, but I was bored with the lack of rapids and slow moving water. Some small details were also bothersome: - there are no public bathrooms at the facility where you check in and get your gear before getting on the bus. They just have port-a-potties. For a $100 experience, you should have bathrooms for customers. This alone would make me never choose this company again. We used the "employees only" restroom and no, I didn’t ask permission. - the bus on the way back was PACKED! All of the guides were standing in the aisle and even for a 10 min ride, it was miserable being packed on a smelly, hot, damp bus full of people who are also smelly, hot, and damp - when you get back to the facility, there’s a long line of people waiting rinse their feet. Have multiple hoses available, for goodness sake - there is no safety video shown before you board the bus. I thought that was weird. River Riders does a safety video and the guides give a lot more instruction (their facility is nicer, too) Little details to make an expensive trip more comfortable really do matter.

My children and I went white water rafting with River and Trail Outfitters on 7/21/2025. It was an amazing time! While traveling down the river, we were welcomed by bald eagles and a golden eagle. The staff was excellent! Not only did our guide go out of their way to ensure we had a great time, but he also shared some of his historical knowledge of Harpers Ferry. Also, the entire trip was safe and professional. I highly recommend rafting with River and Trail Outfitters, I am certain you will have an excellent time.

My teen boys and I had a wonderful time rafting with our amazing guide Caleb! Our guide was excellent and extremely knowledgeable, he made the trip worthwhile. The entire process was smooth!

So much fun white water rafting! It was a beautiful day and being on the water was nice and refreshing! Our guide Brent was the best! The process is extremely smooth and they will let you know what you should and shouldn’t bring. Everyone was well taken care of and the entire crew is amazing. I 1000% recommend!

Amazing experience with rafting. Aidan, our guide, was knowledgeable and was fun to be around. Safety wise, they were prepared aptly. Would def recommend 100/100
