Washington & Old Dominion Railroad Regional Park

I usually take this PAVED trail for my regular 43 miles ride. It offers challenging hills, and long flat areas for sprinting. Most bikers are not aggressive. For my over 80 miles (supposedly over 4,000 ft elevation gain) I stop at Monk's BBQ: My mile 41. There are other places for "hydrating" just at the trail. Among them, Caboose and Old Ox breweries are my favorites. W&OD is a VERY safe and quiet trail.

This trail is amazing. Trails that run 40 miles thru Virginia’s beautiful scenery all on a paved trails. Park along one of the many entry points and go as far as you want.

Excellent trail for biking, walking and horse riding. Lined with utilities along the way, you are constantly reminded of the urbanization of Northern Virginia in particular. My favorite is the horse trail that runs parallel to the bike trail and offers a rich variety of flora.

Great park! Very well maintained. This address is the park HQ. The park/trail runs from Arlington to purcelville, Virginia. It's paved for the entire length and relatively flat. You can see hawks and owls sometimes, and plenty of deer. Careful at the street crossings. Many are minimally marked for drivers and trail users need to be cautious. There are many businesses and amenities along the trail. There is a gravel trail that parallels the asphalt for walking and dogs though everyone can go on the asphalt

As it gets colder, the trail has less traffic. I surprised myself with doing nineteen miles this evening. We saw thirteen deer and one crane. I lost count of the squirrels I missed. One of the biggest secrets is this trail. Dare I say any more good things about this trail!
